Most buyers prefer the lighter AKM, leaving old AK-47s gathering dust in blackmarket stockpiles and driving their prices down slighly cheaper than AKS47. Despite the extra weight, the milled construction makes the rifle exceptionally durable. Many Loners chop down the wooden stock to improve mobility than accuracy and install custom rear-sight Picatinny adapters, allowing the use of Western optics.
