What would the sky look like if the Moon were replaced by another planet — or by a black hole?
This is a highly realistic visualization of how other planets and space objects would look in place of the Moon, at the Moon's real distance of 384,400 km from Earth. Every object is shown at its true size, seen from orbit and from the streets of New York City.
Objects in this video: the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, a black hole, J1407b (the planet with giant rings), Titan, a pulsar (neutron star), and the exoplanet Kepler-22b.

📏 Sizes shown on screen are the accepted NASA/IAU values. The black hole is a 15,000-solar-mass black hole (Schwarzschild diameter 88,598 km). J1407b's ring system is about 180 million km across (Kenworthy & Mamajek, 2015).
