250 years ago, America gave birth to seven entirely new religions — homegrown movements born from small towns, farmhouses, and revival tents across the American Northeast and Midwest. Today, only three are still growing. The other four have plateaued, shrunk, or nearly vanished. In this documentary, we examine seven American-born religious movements: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian Science, the Church of Scientology, the Unity Church, and the Shakers. Using membership records, church archives, and independent research, we uncover the real reason some of these faiths kept expanding for two centuries while others quietly emptied out — and it has almost nothing to do with which one was "true." This is not a ranking of doctrine or salvation. It's an investigation into structure, succession, and survival — how each movement handled leadership after its founder died, and why that single decision shaped everything that followed. Topics covered in this video: • The "Burned-over District" and the birth of America's homegrown religions • Joseph Smith, Ellen G. White, Charles Taze Russell, Mary Baker Eddy, and L. Ron Hubbard • Why the LDS Church, Adventists, and Jehovah's Witnesses kept growing • Why Christian Science, Unity, the Shakers, and Scientology plateaued or declined • Current global membership statistics for each movement If this documentary helped you understand the pattern behind American religious growth, subscribe to The Caelustra for more in-depth, research-based religious history content. #AmericanReligion #ReligiousHistory #LDS #Mormon #SeventhDayAdventist #JehovahsWitnesses #ChristianScience #Scientology #ChurchHistory #TheCaelustra
