Just a short distance apart, each has its own history and local charm. 🏛️ Jinhua Street—From Temple to Neighborhood Canteen Jinhua Street is located near Xihua Road in Liwan District, named after the Ming Dynasty Jinhua Temple. Legend has it that a woman named Jinhua was revered as the "Goddess of Fertility" for her efficacy in granting children. A temple was built in her honor and became a center of worship for nearby residents. Though the temple is gone, the name "Jinhua Street" remains. Jinhua Street Today Today, Jinhua Street is an old street full of local charm. Old residences and neighborhood shops line both sides, carrying the daily life of generations of locals. Rice roll shops, roast meat shops, herbal tea stalls—there are time-honored spots that locals have frequented for decades. Jinhua Street's charm lies in that "unremarkable but indispensable" feeling of everyday life. 📜 Ludi Street—Reed Memories of a Song Dynasty Riverbank Ludi Street is located between Xihua Road and Zhongshan 7th Road in Liwan District, connecting Kangwang North Road and Guangfu North Road. Its poetic name dates back to the Song Dynasty—this area was once the riverbank of a Pearl River tributary, overgrown with reeds (芦荻), hence the name. After the land formed in the Song Dynasty, this poetic name has been preserved to this day. Religious Center in the Ming-Qing Dynasties From the Ming Dynasty, Ludi Street became a religious center: Jinhua Temple: Late Ming, dedicated to fertility goddess Jinhua Xichan Temple: Ming Buddhist temple; stone turtles and ancient wells remain in No.4 High School Doumu Palace: Qing Taoist temple; ancient steles still exist Wantang Church: Built 1926, undergoing restoration since 2015 Century of Education In 1907, Nanhai Middle School moved here, beginning the area's educational tradition.
