Inauguration of the Jindal Society for Modern Indian Histories | April 10, 2026, New Delhi

Instituted at ‪@jindalglobaluniversity‬, the Jindal Society for Modern Indian Histories is a student-led free speech forum for rigorous, reasoned, and non-partisan dialogue on modern Indian history. It was inaugurated on April 10, 2026, at the JGU International Academy, New Delhi, in the august presence of Dr. Shashi Tharoor (‪@ShashiTharoorOfficial‬), Mr. Kapil Sibal (‪@dilsewithkapilsibal‬), and Mr. William Dalrymple. Having inaugurated the Society, the three Guests of Honour participated in a panel discussion reflective of the broader aspirations of the Society: "Modern Indian History as the Foundation of Democratic and Constitutional Values." The inaugural remarks were delivered by the Founding Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University, Professor (Dr.) Raj Kumar. While the panel discussion was moderated by Professor Arup K. Chatterjee (‪@arupkchatterjee‬), Professor of English at Jindal Global Law School and the Founding Convenor of the Society, the concluding remarks were delivered by Professor Abhishek Rana, Associate Professor at Jindal Global Law School and Founding Faculty Advisor of the Society. The Society was introduced by its Founding President, Mr. Baawa Sayan Bajaj, who is pursuing LLB Hons. at Jindal Global Law School. The proceedings were conducted—and the vote of thanks delivered—by Ms. Priyanka Bhalla, a Founding General Secretary of the Society and also a student of LLB Hons. at Jindal Global Law School.
