ABCINGO Week 1! 🎯 3,533 Stitches, 8 Days & SO Many WIPs | Flosstube

Welcome back to Kindred StitchFolk! This episode is all about ABCINGO and my first 8 days of playing along with the Magazine Monthly Cross Stitch Challenge Facebook group for September 2026! ABCINGO has pretty much taken over my stitching this month—and I am LOVING it. 😂 The basic idea is to go shopping through your own stash and assign projects to the letters A–Z and the numbers 1–9. The connection can be the pattern name, designer, something pictured in the pattern, a word within the design…or, as you’ll see with some of mine, a little creative justification. 😂 For a regular letter call, the goal is 100 stitches or one hour of stitching. I decided to challenge myself and aim for 200 stitches whenever possible. The numbers work a little differently. If a number is called, you stitch that many motifs on the project assigned to that number. So when my #6 was called, I pulled out Cabin in the Woods and stitched six stars! We receive the next day’s call the night before so we have time to get our project ready, but NO PRE-STITCHING! You have to wait until the actual day of the call to begin. If life gets in the way, though, you can catch up later—and the final days of September are set aside for catching up. 🪡 ABCINGO — DAYS 1–8 Day 1 — V: Travel & Explore 222 stitches Day 2 — #3: Nevermore Goal: 3 motifs I actually completed 4 because of the way the section was laid out! 931 stitches Day 3 — #6: Cabin in the Woods Goal: 6 stars 311 stitches Day 4 — T: Thanksgiving Sampler I have a personal goal of putting 2,000 stitches into this one during September, so I PUSHED on this call! 710 stitches Day 5 — #5: Nevermore Goal: 5 motifs in the top border 846 stitches Day 6 — P: Pizza Mill Hill Kit This one even included some beading! 131 stitches Day 7 — U: UFO Mill Hill Kit I swapped out the perforated paper that came with the kit and am stitching this one on dark blue 14-count Aida instead. 144 stitches Day 8 — Y: Rio de Janeiro I assigned this one to Y because the Cristo Redentor/Christ the Redeemer statue has its arms extended in a shape that reminds me of a Y. Sometimes ABCINGO requires creativity! 238 stitches ✨ TOTAL ABCINGO STITCHES, DAYS 1–8: 3,533 STITCHES! ✨ And yes…I did even MORE stitching than that during those eight days.
