NACSW Summit Trial - Day 2 9/27/26, Kintnersville, PA 4:30, range of 0-3 hides 3 of 3 hides Given this trial took place during a nor'easter and the wind was gusting I was expecting a lot of swirling in this search. I knew the third hide was on the other chair based on how long it took him to solve the first chair. I could have kept him in the area but I really wanted to give him the autonomy to figure it out the way he thought was best. He completely left it, found nothing else, returned to it, and immediately nailed it. Once he hopped back up on the stage I knew he knew he had to finish the job. If I had changed my handling decision to keep him in the space with the chairs we could have finished much faster, but because Rem is so sensitive I really try to balance overhandling with allowing autonomy. It's a hard balance and I don't always get it right, but here I think I did.
