In this Youtube video from Auto Knight, I repair the electrical wiring loom on my 1999 BMW Z3 E36 Roadster 2.8 5-speed manual in Arctic Silver Metallic.
The wires inside the conduit that form the loom to doors, tailgates and boot lids on various cars are prone to breakage / fracture, due to the constant movement and flexing. This can cause faults such as failure of electric windows, central locking, lighting and various other consumers contained within the affected body panel.
I repair the loom by soldering in new wires, ensuring the joints are within the body or panel of the car and not in the flexible section. Soldered joints do not bend and should never be in the flexible conduit. The use of crimp type connectors is not a method I would use. All soldered joints were protected with heat shrink and the loom bound with fabric tape.
