For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the same measure you use, it will be measured to you. (Luke 6:37-38 NIV) Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.” • God doesn’t want us to catch the vision of GETTING. He wants us to catch the vision of GIVING! To become pure hearted givers, we need to: 1. Deal with a Selfish Heart. (Deuteronomy 15:7-8 NKJV) “If there is among you a poor man of your brethren, within any of the gates in your land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart nor shut your hand from your poor brother, but you shall open your hand wide to him and willingly lend him sufficient for his need, whatever he needs. Beware lest there be a wicked thought in your heart, saying, ‘The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand,’ and your eye be evil against your poor bother and you give him nothing, and he cry out to the Lord against you, and it become sin among you. • God calls selfishness wicked. Wicked thoughts keep us from having compassion and a generous heart. 2. Deal with a Grieving Heart. (Deut. 15:10 NKJV) You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works and in all to which you put your hand. • Selfishness can attack us BEFORE we give, but grief can attack us AFTER we give. 3. Develop a Generous Heart. (Duet. 15:14 NKJV) You shall supply him liberally from your flock, from your threshing floor, and from your winepress. From what the Lord your God has blessed you with, you shall give to him. (Matthew 6:21 NIV) “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” • If you want your heart in the kingdom – put your treasure there! 4. Develop a Grateful Heart. (Duet. 15:15 NKJV) You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today. • Gratitude is what produces generosity. God wants you to live a blessed life so you can be a blessing! Heart For the House Offering – Next Sunday December 11th Three things to get ready to give: #1 PRAY – ask God what He would have you and your family to do. #2 PREPARE – set aside a sacrificial offering over and above your tithe and regular giving. #3 PARTICIPATE – Everyone can give something. It’s not about equal giving, it’s about equal sacrifice.
