Watlington Station Level Crossing

Saturday August 31 2013 at 11.01 am. The 10.56 Kings Lynn to London (12.37) train which can be heard pulling into Watlington station on the left and then it crosses the crossing. 80 seconds of the wait here was cut so the wait from barriers lowering to train passing was 3¼ minutes. The train was quite crowded. The station was closed in 1969 but reopened 6 years later. 156 people a day use it on average. A little more than 2,000 people live in this north Norfolk village. A young man trying to escape from the police jumped from his borrowed car as the barriers here were lowering in 2012. There was, of course, no accident as the barriers lower so early there was no train nearby.
