CODE Foils 855 R2 Review – Pure Downwind Riding in Marginal Light Winds | Port Phillip Bay Testing the CODE Foils 855 R2 in marginal, light-wind conditions on Port Phillip Bay, Victoria, Australia. This session is focused purely on downwind riding, exploring how the 855 R2 performs when the wind is marginal and generating enough speed and glide becomes the real challenge. At 86 kg, I'm riding the following setup: Foil: CODE Foils 855 R2 Mast: M75 BLK Board: MD Rear wing: R120 — too big for this setup and riding style Rider weight: 86 kg Conditions: Marginal, light wind Location: Port Phillip Bay, Victoria, Australia Riding style: Pure downwind foiling The focus is on the 855 R2's ability to connect bumps, maintain glide and carry momentum through lulls when the conditions are far from ideal. Light-wind downwind riding exposes the strengths and weaknesses of a foil setup, particularly when it comes to pumping efficiency, speed retention, glide and keeping the foil flying between bumps. I'm also looking at the overall balance of the setup. The R120 rear wing is too big for what I'm trying to achieve here, making it an obvious area to reconsider when refining the setup for pure downwind performance. This is a real-world session rather than a controlled test, showing how the CODE 855 R2 handles the marginal conditions actually encountered on Port Phillip Bay. If you're interested in CODE Foils, downwind foiling, light-wind performance or choosing the right foil and rear-wing combination, this session offers a practical look at the equipment in use. #CODEFoils #855R2 #DownwindFoiling #LightWindFoiling #FoilReview #WingFoiling #PortPhillipBay #DownwindRiding #FoilSetup #Hydrofoiling
