Zverev's BLUNT Confession About Alcaraz After Winning The Laver Cup 2026 | Laver Cup 2026 Today

Alexander Zverev delivered the moment Team Europe had been waiting for at the Laver Cup in London. The newly crowned US Open champion beat Learner Tien 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 at The O2 to seal a 13-5 victory over Team World. After a weekend filled with doubt, missed match points, and a two-year drought at this event, Zverev finally closed the door and brought the trophy back to Europe. The road to that win was anything but smooth. Zverev lost in the doubles on Friday and let slip multiple match points against Alex De Minaur on Saturday. Carlos Alcaraz wrestled back the momentum for Europe at the end of day two, and Zverev then teamed up with Casper Ruud to win the doubles, leaving Europe just two victories away from reclaiming the Laver Cup. On Sunday, Flavio Cobolli and Jakub Mensik stretched the lead to 10-5 by beating Taylor Fritz and Alex De Minaur 7-5 6-3, setting up Zverev to finish the job. Facing rookie Learner Tien, he struggled at times, but he admitted that knowing Alcaraz was playing next gave him the freedom to play. Because Zverev clinched it, Alcaraz's match against De Minaur and Rafael Jodar's match against Fritz were never needed, and Alcaraz had to settle for a cheerleader role. In this video, we break down the full story of Team Europe's Laver Cup win, from Zverev's nightmare start to his emotional finish in front of Roger Federer and Leonardo DiCaprio. We cover the key matches, the pressure on Zverev, what he said afterwards about Alcaraz and Team World, and why this win ended a run of three defeats in four editions for Europe. Europe has now won six of the nine Laver Cups.
