The T-Shirt That “Destroyed” a Bodybuilder’s Mind | Mike Katz’s Untold Story Mike Katz was one of the most respected bodybuilders of the 1970s. A former professional football player turned champion bodybuilder, he won major titles including Mr. America, Mr. World, and Mr. Universe. But his most famous story came from the legendary bodybuilding documentary Pumping Iron. Before the 1975 Mr. Universe competition, Mike Katz discovered that his T-shirt was missing. The film portrayed the incident as psychological warfare, suggesting that his rival Ken Waller had deliberately taken it to destroy Mike’s confidence before the competition. But there was a problem… The real story was much more complicated. Years later, the filmmakers acknowledged that parts of the famous T-shirt sequence were created or dramatized for the movie. Mike eventually finished 4th at the 1975 Mr. Universe, while Ken Waller won the title. But Mike Katz didn’t disappear after that defeat. The following year, he competed at the 1976 Mr. Olympia and finished second in the heavyweight division. So was Mike Katz really sabotaged? Or did Pumping Iron turn a small incident into one of bodybuilding’s most memorable stories? This is the untold story behind Mike Katz, the missing T-shirt, and one of bodybuilding’s most famous documentaries. 🔥 Watch until the end to discover what really happened.
