Summer (Heavy Metal) | Heavy Metal Classics

Vivaldi's Summer, but the orchestra got replaced by a heavy metal band. Venice, 1725. A red-haired priest publishes four violin concertos about the seasons, each with a sonnet describing what you're supposed to hear. Summer is the scary one: a heat so heavy that the shepherd can't move, flies and hornets everywhere, and then the last movement, where the sky breaks open, thunder and hail flatten the crops, and the shepherd's fears all come true. Three hundred years later the tremolo storm becomes tremolo-picked guitars, the hail becomes blast beats, and nobody gets the crops back. Fifth track of Heavy Metal Classics. Music: Antonio Vivaldi, "Summer" (L'estate), The Four Seasons, RV 315 (public domain).
