Welcome to The Stories That You Never Heard — where forgotten stories find their voice. A kingdom remembers its kings. But how often does it remember the woman who protected its future? 👑 In 1894, the Maharaja of Mysore, Chamarajendra Wadiyar X, died at just 31 years of age, leaving behind a young son who was only ten. His wife, Maharani Kempananjammani Vani Vilasa Sannidhana, was suddenly entrusted with the responsibility of guiding the Mysore State until her son came of age. She was only around 26 years old. But her story was about much more than a throne. During her regency, Mysore witnessed important developments in public health, education, infrastructure and public welfare. She worked alongside the state's administration and Dewan Sir K. Seshadri Iyer, and played a significant role in supporting Jamsetji Tata's vision for what would become the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. IISc. Yet, while history frequently celebrates her son, Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, the story of his mother remains far less familiar. This is the story of a woman who lost her husband, took responsibility for her son's future, and helped shape the future of an entire state.
