Issue 149: Web of Mystery 20 vs. Ahoy's Thanksgiving Satire by Mark Russell

Welcome To Common Comic Cover Issue 149. We are an appreciation podcast for Non-key Comics. If you like comics or just two old friends talking please like and subscribe. In this episode of Common Comic Covers, Andy and Jeremy explore two incredible, distinct titles that highlight the vast difference between vintage horror and modern satire. We perform a deep dive into Andy’s vintage choice, Web of Mystery (1951) #9 (cover reference used for analysis), featuring the eerie art of Jim McLaughlin, and Jeremy's contemporary selection, Thanksgiving (2025 Ahoy) #1B by Mark Russell and Mauricet, a mature, terrifying exploration of the Turkeyneck Killer. Do they share any common threads, or is this a perfect example of a "no match"? Plus, we check our comic inboxes, featuring other vintage Ace Comics, Marvel/Atlas titles, and the legendary post-apocalyptic science-fantasy saga, First Kingdom by Jack Katz. #comicbooks #CGC #Marvel #DCComics #ComicCollecting #KeyIssues #VariantCovers #jackkatz #Markrussell #Ahoycomics #goldenagecomics #horrorcomics
