Every winter, this entire road disappears under snow — and becomes a ski slope. The Ontake Skyline opens only after the ski season ends and the snow melts off. This 4K POV drive starts from a parking lot at about 7,200 feet, next to the Mt. Ontake visitor center on the Nagano–Gifu border, and descends more than 3,600 feet of continuous downhill without a single flat stretch. The early section runs straight through the ski resort itself — wide open slopes on both sides, and the massive Kiso Range of the Central Japan Alps stretching across the horizon. From there, the road dives into the forest: hairpin after hairpin, all the way down. This isn't a steady cruise. It's a winding descent, and you'll hear it — the engine working through the corners, the tires loading up on every hairpin. Even in Japan, few people know this road exists.
