Deuteronomy puts the road from Horeb to Kadesh Barnea at eleven days. The same account puts the people in the wilderness for forty years. Both numbers sit in the same book, and the gap between them is the whole story. This video works through that gap: the scouting mission and the report the spies brought back, the reaction in the camp, the sentence that was passed, and the years that followed until that generation was gone. Why did an eleven day road take forty years? What did the spies actually say that changed the plan? And why does the text tie the delay to the people and not to the distance? Using the Numbers and Deuteronomy accounts, the geography of the route, and the way the story is told, this video lays out what the text says happened between the two dates. ⚠️ Watch until the end, the reason is not the distance.
