Lesley shares her experience living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer for nearly 15 years. At 47, with clear mammograms behind her, she found a lump. Two weeks after her breast cancer diagnosis, a scan showed it had already spread to her bones.
Lesley was diagnosed in 2012 with ER-positive, PR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, and her cancer has changed over time. She lost her PR status, became HER2-low, and liquid biopsies found PIK3CA and ESR1 mutations that led to targeted treatment options. Now on her ninth line of treatment, she explains what a liquid biopsy is, why she asks for biomarker testing at every progression, and the two questions she always brings to her oncologist.
Thank you, Lesley, for sharing your story to help others.
