🗺️ Exploring hidden Australia — one place, one flavor at a time. Today Mum is making our Ghar Di Healthy Pinni ❤️ — a traditional homemade Punjabi-style pinni made with green moong dal, kala chana flour, dates, dry fruits, phool makhana and optional poppy seeds (khas khas). This recipe uses dates as a natural sweetener and is packed with delicious nuts and seeds. It's a beautiful homemade recipe that brings traditional Punjabi flavours into the kitchen. 🥣 Ingredients Green moong dal (mungi di dhaal) Kala chana flour (kala chana atta) Desi ghee Dates Dry fruits Phool makhana (fox nuts) Walnuts Almonds Pumpkin seeds Poppy seeds / Khas Khas — optional Sultanas — optional Sonth (dry ginger powder) 👩‍🍳 How We Make Ghar Di Healthy Pinni STEP 1 — Roast Green Moong Dal Dry roast the green moong dal until it becomes nicely roasted and aromatic. STEP 2 — Roast Kala Chana Flour Dry roast the kala chana flour while stirring continuously so it doesn't burn. STEP 3 — Grind the Moong Dal Let the roasted moong dal cool completely, then grind it into a fine powder. STEP 4 — Poppy Seeds / Khas Khas This step is optional. Dry roast the poppy seeds, let them cool and grind them. STEP 5 — Prepare the Dry Fruits Grind your choice of dry fruits. We used phool makhana, walnuts, almonds and pumpkin seeds. For sweetness, we're using dates. STEP 6 — Add Desi Ghee Heat a good amount of desi ghee in a large kadahi. Add the ground roasted moong dal and roast it well. STEP 7 — Add Kala Chana Flour Add the roasted kala chana flour and mix everything together. STEP 8 — Add Dry Fruits Add the ground dry fruit mixture and combine everything well. STEP 9 — Add Dates & Flavours Add the ground dates and optional sultanas. Then add sonth (dry ginger powder) and mix everything thoroughly. STEP 10 — Make the Pinni ❤️ Once everything is mixed well, allow the mixture to cool enough to handle. Shape it into round pinnis — or enjoy the mixture as it is! ❤️ Mum's Recipe, Made With Love There's something special about homemade Punjabi recipes passed down through the family.
