Located in the Motijheel/Paltan area, it has recently undergone a major transformation in both its name and infrastructure. Key Updates (2025–2026) As of early 2026, several significant changes have occurred: Official Name Change: In February 2025, the National Sports Council (NSC) officially renamed the venue from "Bangabandhu National Stadium" back to National Stadium, Dhaka. This was part of a broader government initiative to rename various public infrastructures. Renovation & Reopening: Following a lengthy modernization project that began in 2021, the stadium has reopened. The renovation focused on upgrading it into a world-class football and athletics facility, featuring a new "GrassMaster" pitch, improved floodlights, and a modern LED giant screen. Capacity Adjustment: To accommodate more comfortable individual seating and improved safety standards, the capacity was reduced from its historic 36,000+ down to approximately 22,400. Historical Significance The stadium is legendary for being the only venue in the world to host the inaugural home Test match for two different nations: Pakistan (1955): Against India (when Dhaka was the capital of East Pakistan). Bangladesh (2000): Against India (marking Bangladesh's entry into Test cricket). #জাতীয়_স্টেডিয়াম #National_Stadium #NationalStadium #jatiyo_stadium #bangla_view #বাংলা_ভিউ 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙩 shofiahmadjisan@gmail.com Related tag :- জাতীয় স্টেডিয়াম,ঢাকা, National Stadium Dhaka, National Stadium, jatiyo stadium dhaka, Dhaka Stadium, National Football Stadium, Football Stadium Bangladesh, National Football Stadium, Football Stadium Dhaka, জাতীয় ফুটবল স্টেডিয়াম, National Stadium Motijheel Dhaka, National Stadium Motijheel, National Stadium Paltan Dhaka, National Stadium Paltan, Paltan Stadium, Motijheel Stadium, football stadium in Bangladesh, Explore National Stadium Dhaka, Gulistan Stadium, Bangla View
