Professor Lotte Bjerre Knudsen holds a degree in biotechnology and a Doctoral Degree in Scientific Medicine. She is an Honorary Professor of Translational Medicine at Aarhus University and was until recently a long-time Novo Nordisk scientist, where she most recently served as Chief Scientific Advisor for R&D. A pioneer in GLP-1–based medicines, she is a co-inventor of liraglutide and has led biology research programs for liraglutide and semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy) across diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular, liver, kidney, and Alzheimer’s disease. Her contributions have earned major international recognition, including several prestigious awards and she continues to contribute to research in drug discovery, target biology, and the application of AI in drug development.
