POV: Your Life at Every Level of a Deathwatch Kill Team (Warhammer 40K) The smell of your fortress-monastery is something you have never had to memorize because it has always simply been there — stone cold enough to hold its chill even in summer, the faint sweetness of incense burned in the reclusiam before dawn, machine oil worked into every surface by centuries of maintenance that predates your birth by epochs you cannot imagine. You have worn your Chapter's colors for decades. The right pauldron carries the heraldry you earned across campaigns whose names you can recite in your sleep. You are not young. You are not uncertain. You are a Space Marine in full, and everything about the fortress around you confirms it without needing to say so.
