DSWD asks Senate: Give AICS at least P63 billion in 2027

Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian appeals to the Senate finance subcommittee E to restore funding for the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) to at least P63.9 billion in 2027, the same level under the 2026 national budget. Gatchalian says it would be the minimum level for the Department of Social Welfare and Development to effectively address the effects of El Niño and the Middle East conflict. Under the 2027 National Expenditure Program, AICS was allocated P33.29 billion. The House version of the budget bill added P25 billion.
