Sailing on Lake Onalaska, LaCrosse, Wisconsin. My Windy weather app forecast the wind to be 16 mph with gusts 25 to 30. Several of us with long experience on Lake Onalaska estimated the steady wind to be between 20 and 25 mph from the northwest. Whitecaps covered the lake. The 2011 Adventure Island handled the conditions well and was the only boat on the lake. Lake Onalaska was created by the building of the Upper Mississippi Lock and Dam system. It's generally shallow with an overall depth of just about 7' with many areas less than that.
