Couple and Family Therapy and Structural Racism in the Black Lives Matter era

This manuscript highlights the impact of the Black Lives Matter Movement and applies the lenses of Critical Race Theory and the Bioecological Model in a critique of structural racism embedded in not just the United States, but also in all aspects of psychology and allied fields. An overview is provided of racial socialization and related issues affecting parenting decisions in Black families and the impacts of structural racism on Black couple dynamics, along with recommendations to effectively engage and address racial issues in therapy.
