Fantastic Four (2015) could have been a completely different movie. 🤯 Josh Trank originally wanted to make a darker, grounded science-fiction story inspired by the approach he used in Chronicle — focusing more on the psychological and physical consequences of gaining powers rather than a traditional superhero adventure. But during production, the movie went through script changes, budget cuts, rewrites and reshoots, with the third act and ending undergoing major changes. Reports about the troubled production also varied, so not every behind-the-scenes story should be treated as independently verified fact. So what was Josh Trank's original Fantastic Four actually supposed to be? In this video, we explore the Fantastic Four movie we never got, including: 🔹 Josh Trank's darker original vision 🔹 The grounded sci-fi and body-horror approach 🔹 The Thing's disturbing transformation 🔹 The original Fantasticar plans 🔹 Ben Grimm being treated as a military asset 🔹 Harvey Elder and the Mole Man setup 🔹 The completely different concept for Doctor Doom 🔹 Doom's connection to Planet Zero 🔹 The original finale and Doom's potential future 🔹 Fox's reshoots and major changes 🔹 And how the reboot's failure affected Fox's larger Marvel plans The final movie gave audiences one version of Fantastic Four — but behind it was another version that, according to Trank's own comments and the production history, never made it to theaters.
