AT THE CROSS, WE LAY DOWN THE NEED TO BE RIGHT

Sometimes the last word matters to us more than the person we are speaking to. We can carry that insistence into prayer and ask God to confirm the position we have already defended. Before the cross, this worship time invites a different posture: willingness to listen, to learn, and to admit where we have been wrong. Father of mercy, our pride can hide inside reasonable arguments. Show us where the desire to win has displaced the desire to love. Through Jesus, teach us to apologize plainly and to hear correction without preparing another defense. We ask for humble hearts, not another victory over each other. Amen.
