Tokyo Hyakki Yakō 2026 – Yokai Parade | Japan

Tokyo Hyakki Yakō is a yokai-themed event organized by Yokai-ya LLC and held in Koenji, Suginami Ward, Tokyo. The phrase “hyakki yakō” itself is commonly translated as “Night Parade of One Hundred Demons” and refers to a procession of supernatural beings from Japanese folklore. One of the event’s main features is a parade in which participants dress as yokai (supernatural creatures and spirits from Japanese folklore) and walk through Koenji Look Shopping Street. First held in 2023, the event returned for its fourth edition in 2026. More than 250 participants dressed as yokai took part in this year’s parade. Yokai-ya LLC also organizes yokai-themed parades and walking events across Japan. These include the Nakanosawa Onsen Snow Woman Procession (a parade featuring people dressed as snow women, female spirits from Japanese folklore known in Japanese as yuki-onna), the Aizu Yokai Procession (a parade featuring supernatural creatures from Japanese folklore), and the Kawagoe Yokai Walk (a walking event exploring local legends and supernatural beings associated with Kawagoe). The Koenji Look Shopping Street Association sponsors the event, with support from the Koenji Festival Executive Committee and other organizations. 00:00 Yokai Group Photo 00:30 Parade Departure 03:04 Yokai Parade on Koenji Look Shopping Street October 24, 2026
