Keep in mind that this is the North American version of Tomodachi Life. I say this because a majority of these special foods, at least about 75% of them, are only in the North American version. I'll explain more about this later.
I play Tomodachi Life and give my Mii all the special foods to see what his reaction is and what he says after eating all the special foods. Special foods are items that your Miis can eat. Your Miis will always love any special foods you give to them, meaning you will not find an all time favorite or worst ever food when giving your Mii a special food.
To get special foods in Tomodachi Life, StreetPass must be enabled. SpotPass is optional, but StreetPass will be the primary way to receive special foods.
For StreetPass, you must receive a traveler to visit your island. If you help a traveler solve a problem, the traveler will offer a special food in exchange for Play Coins. You may get a certain special food depending on the island's region of origin the traveler came from, but I'm not too sure about that info yet.
For SpotPass, if you send out any of your travelers out to visit other people's islands, you may receive a notification that a traveler can come back and visit your island. If your traveler comes back to visit your island, you will get a special food. You may also get a certain special food based on the island's region settings your traveler is visiting at the time, but again I do not know if this is 100% accurate.
SpotPass has been discontinued since April 2024, but homebrew apps such as NetPass helps bring back the SpotPass feature where you can still receive letters from travelers and can also come back to your island and visit for a while.
A majority of these special foods can only be collected in the North American version. So if any player who has European region finds a traveler whose island of origin is from the American region, the most common special food you will get from them is most likely Exotic Cuisine and some other common special foods. So keep in mind that the items you see here are going to be very different for European, Japanese, and Korean versions of the game.
