There is an old saying in Hindi, one your grandmother may have said to you: pehla sukh, nirogi kaya. The first happiness is a body free of disease.
Not gold. Not a full treasury. A body that wakes up in the morning without pain.

Source note. Label: Purana. The appearance of Dhanvantari from the churning of the ocean, with his description and the pot of amrita, and his naming as a partial form of Vishnu and the knower of Ayurveda, are in the Bhagavata Purana, Skandha eight, chapter eight. He is listed among Vishnu's forms in Skandha one, chapter three. His later birth in the royal line of Kashi is in the Bhagavata, Skandha nine, chapter seventeen, and in the Harivamsha. The opening scene of the sages coming to Divodasa Dhanvantari in Kashi, and Sushruta among his students, is in the Sushruta Samhita, Sutrasthana, chapter one. National Ayurveda Day is observed on Dhanteras by the Government of India. The buying of vessels and brooms, and the worship of Kubera, are living tradition and vary by region. The reflections are my own.
