Opening Day TEAL HUNTING | Exploring Public Land In A NEW STATE

For the first time in a couple years I pointed the truck east for the opening day trip of the 2025 duck hunting season! I picked an interesting looking area in Wisconsin using OnX and hit the road to explore some northwoods public land in search of early season teal. After a couple days of scouting I finally found a small pond that had a solid number of teal feeding hard and loafing on the shorelines. Even with an early wake-up, we weren't the first ones to the parking lot the next morning but we were still able to get the spot and ducks were ripping around as we settled into our layouts. Our shooting was rusty, my dog handling was subpar, and the setup wasn't quite right but we were still able to knock down the first birds of the season and have a good time doing it.
