How to photograph clothes for AI: the four things that make your product photos work, tested on one jacket shot twelve different ways and run through the FASHN Agent. Almost any photo works. These four make it right. In this video I photographed one jacket as a flat lay, on a mannequin and on a person, under four kinds of light, and ran every set through the FASHN Agent with the same short message. Then I compared each result to the real jacket. Views. Shoot the front and the back. If you only give it the front, the AI has to guess what the back looks like, and it can get it wrong. A side photo is a bonus. Fit. A photo on a person is best, because it shows how the piece sits on a body. A mannequin is second best. A flat lay still works, but the AI has to guess the fit. Light. Use neutral light, or the flash on your phone pointed straight at the piece so there are no shadows. Warm bulbs change the color of your product. Details. If there is a small detail you care about, shoot a close up of it. A flat lay works great for close ups. Putting it together. In the FASHN Agent I upload the model first, then the front, side and back photos, then the close ups, and send one short message. The message I typed Put this jacket on him. Create three separate images: a front, a side and a back view.
