The Western Head - The Fourth Head Of The Papacy PT2 The Western Head that extends from 1054 A.C.B. to 1198 A.C.B. This period lasted from the great schism between the eastern and western churches, causing the Papacy the lost, of a wider territory over which it once had control, and it reaches to the coming to office of Pope Innocent III in 1198 A.C.B. whose power and influence would last long after his death in 1216 A.C.B. During the period of the Western Head the Papacy became a completely western institution with power largely in the west, and it grew in its influence in the west and extended its power and authority to unprecedented heights. A lot of this period is spent by the Papacy struggling for control over Kings, Kingdom and territory. This is also the period that the Papacy launches the Crusades in the east, not to regain territory for the Orthodox Church or the emperor in the east in Constantinople, but for its own self. During this time the Papacy gained more control over Kings and Kingdoms.
