Christian grace sounds beautiful until it reaches somebody we don't think deserves it.
In this episode of Sacred + Unfiltered, Genesis explores the cases of Lindsay Clancy and Latarsha Sanders as an entry point into a difficult conversation about motherhood, mental illness, criminal responsibility, and the uncomfortable nature of grace.
Drawing from her experience as a mother living with depression and anxiety, she wrestles with the tension between compassion and accountability, the humanity of people who commit horrific acts, and the ways Christians sometimes weaponize forgiveness against victims.
Through Genesis 1 and Luke 23, she asks a question that challenges the very foundation of how we understand mercy:
If grace only extends to people whose actions we can understand, is it really grace?
A conversation about justice, humanity, and the scandal of being loved by God when we haven't earned it.
Content note: Discussions of child deaths, suicide, severe mental illness, violence, and abuse.
Come as you are. Leave with something to wrestle with.
