Can a 24,000 BTU Mini Split Cool a Shop? Mitsubishi Test in 110°F Heat

I installed a Mitsubishi 24,000 BTU Mini Split HVAC system in my shop building—and four months later, I put it to the test in some seriously hot weather. In this video, I take you through the installation from the system sitting on a pallet to a fully working mini split. I show how I: • Determined the best location for the outdoor compressor/condenser • Chose the location for the indoor air handler • Located the remote-control position • Mounted the indoor unit • Drilled through sheetrock and brick • Installed a PVC sleeve through the wall for a clean passage • Routed the electrical wiring, refrigerant lines and condensate drain • Mounted the outdoor unit • Installed the line-set covers for a clean finished appearance For the refrigerant line installation, pressure testing, evacuation and refrigerant release, I used a local HVAC professional. I chose to have that portion completed by a licensed HVAC technician so the Mitsubishi warranty requirements would be properly addressed. That portion of the work is not shown in the video. Then, four months later, I came back to see how well the system was actually working. The results surprised me. With the shop around 100°F inside and an outside temperature of 110°F, the Mitsubishi was producing approximately 69°F air. I also give you my personal Mitsubishi mini split review after living with the system for four months. Based on my experience with this installation and its performance in extreme Oklahoma heat, I believe Mitsubishi makes one of the best—and in my opinion, the best—mini split HVAC systems available.
