Why is dancing such an important part of Krishna consciousness? Dancing in kirtan is far more than bodily movement or entertainment—it is devotional service performed for the pleasure of Krishna. Through sincere chanting and dancing, devotees purify their hearts, overcome inauspiciousness and begin to experience the transcendental happiness brought by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. This inspiring talk describes Lord Chaitanya’s ecstatic sankirtan in Jagannath Puri, where seven groups chanted while the Lord danced in overwhelming love of God. It also recalls how Srila Prabhupada encouraged his disciples to chant, jump and dance joyfully—even when they were tired or lacking enthusiasm. Srila Prabhupada taught an extraordinary principle: even if there is no ecstasy, dance—and dancing will bring ecstasy. Whether young or old, energetic or tired, every devotee can offer some movement to Krishna. Raise your arms, move your feet and participate according to your ability. Kirtan is not something merely to watch; it is Lord Chaitanya’s invitation to join Krishna’s eternal dance. Chant Hare Krishna, dance throughout your life, return to Godhead and continue dancing eternally.
