Nix's Week 3 Board & Train | Leash Training in a New Environment & Working Through Challenges

Nix is kicking off his third week of Board & Train at Best Paw Forward Dog Training in Perkasie, PA! 🐾 Today, Nix took an exciting step in his training journey by working on leash walking across the street for the first time! This was a new environment for him, and while he had some difficulties throughout the session, it was a great opportunity to work through challenges and continue building his confidence. One of Nix's biggest challenges with leash training is that he sometimes likes to put on the brakes and refuse to move. You'll see this happen a few times throughout today's video. We intentionally kept recording because we want his owners to see not only the successful moments but also how to handle these situations when they happen at home. In today's video, you'll see Nix working on: 🐾 Leash Training: Practicing walking with his handler in a new, more distracting environment. 🐾 Building Confidence: Learning to navigate unfamiliar surroundings and new experiences. 🐾 Working Through Challenges: Addressing moments when Nix stops walking or refuses to move forward. 🐾 Leash Communication: Continuing to build his understanding of leash guidance and expectations. 🐾 Real-Life Training: Practicing skills outside of our familiar training areas to help prepare him for everyday walks at home. It's important to remember that progress isn't always a straight line! Dogs may perform a skill well in one environment and struggle when that same skill is introduced somewhere new. That's why we gradually increase distractions and work through challenges at a pace that helps each dog succeed. We want Nix's owners to see exactly what these moments look like and how to respond calmly and consistently when he puts on the brakes during walks. The goal is to continue building his confidence, improve his leash manners, and help him become more comfortable walking in different environments. Nix is making progress, and we're excited to continue building on these skills throughout the remainder of his four-week Board & Train program! 📍 Best Paw Forward Dog Training proudly serves Perkasie, Bucks County, PA, and surrounding areas. We offer professional dog training programs, including Board & Train, Day Train, Puppy School, and Private Lessons.
