An unhealthy addiction to academia

Academia made up the majority of my life (and my identity). Even with my less-than-stellar experience, I never wanted to leave. This is just me unloading about my experience. Maybe some of it will be of use to you, but maybe not; either way, thank you for the free therapy :) For the record: I do NOT regret going to academia. I wouldn't want to relive it, but I don't regret the decade I dedicated to mathematical study.
