Driver's View: The Rhaetian Railway | Landquart to Scuol-Tarasp via Vereina Tunnel!

Ride in the cab of the Rhaetian Railway (RhB) for the full run on an early morning RE4 service from Landquart to Scuol-Tarasp in the Swiss Alps! Departing the Rhine Valley, the meter-gauge line cuts through the narrow Chlus gorge and begins a steady climb up the Prättigau valley. Passing through Küblis and Klosters Platz, the tracks scale steep valley walls and cross stone viaducts before entering the 19-kilometer Vereina Tunnel, the base tunnel opened in 1999 that links the Prättigau with the Engadine beneath the Silvretta range. This is one of the few scheduled services that runs directly through from Landquart to Scuol-Tarasp without splitting, allowing a seamless view all the way along the line! Emerging into daylight at Sagliains, the train joins the Inn River in the Lower Engadine. From here, the route runs along the valley slope through Susch, Lavin, Guarda, Ardez, and Ftan-Baraigla before pulling into the eastern terminus at Scuol-Tarasp.
