Join me for a relaxing walking tour around Niibori (新堀), in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. This is a simple, real-life look at everyday Japan. Starting around Kagohara Station (籠原駅), I walk through the neighbourhood, passing local shops and familiar places such as Cainz and McDonald’s. No talking, no narration — just the streets, the surroundings, and the atmosphere of an ordinary day in Japan. 🏯 A Little History of Niibori Niibori has a history that goes back centuries. The area’s name is connected to irrigation and agriculture. According to Kumagaya City’s historical information, the area was once called Hatamura. During the Keichō era (1596–1615), the Nara-seki irrigation canal was constructed, and the village became known as Niabori-mura, eventually taking the name Niibori. There’s also an interesting story behind Kagohara Station. When it opened in 1909, Niibori was initially considered as its name. However, because it sounded too similar to Nippori Station in Tokyo, the name Kagohara was chosen instead. Today, this area offers a glimpse of everyday life outside Japan’s major tourist destinations. 📍 Location: Niibori, Kumagaya, Saitama, Japan 🚉 Starting point: Kagohara Station (籠原駅) 🎥 Video style: Silent walking tour / No talking If you enjoy discovering local neighbourhoods, Japanese streets, and everyday life in Japan, consider subscribing for more walking videos!
