Passing by the bustling cruise boat piers that line the waterfront, we slowly head back toward Harborland—a destination that was, in truth, just a five-minute walk from where we started. The Port of Kobe has a rich history of 158 years since its official opening to foreign trade in 1868. It has served as a vital gateway connecting Japan to the world, establishing major shipping routes primarily with China, the United States, and European nations.
