The Day Alexander Changed the World | Antiqua Studio

One battle. Two empires. A moment that changed the ancient world. On October 1, 331 BC, Alexander the Great faced Darius III and the vast Persian army on the plains of Gaugamela. What happened there would break the greatest obstacle in Alexander's path and change the balance of power across the ancient world. The Day Alexander Changed the World follows Alexander's campaign from his advance into the Persian Empire, through Tyre, Gaza and Egypt, to the decisive confrontation at Gaugamela. Through cinematic historical reconstruction, battlefield perspectives and immersive POV scenes, this documentary explores how Alexander approached an enemy that greatly outnumbered him — and how movement, timing and a single opening in the Persian line helped decide the battle. But Gaugamela was not the end. Alexander continued east through the former Persian Empire, into Central Asia and eventually India. His empire would not survive long after his death, but the world he left behind had changed. New kingdoms emerged, new cities grew, and Greek and Macedonian influence spread across lands once ruled by Persia. This is the story of Gaugamela — the day Alexander changed the world.
