When we go out with a camera, it's easy to rely on grand landscapes or famous views to do the heavy lifting for us. But what happens when you turn your attention to the everyday, overlooked details right in front of you?
In this vlog, I head down to Marine Parade in Dover, Kent, for a photography session focused purely on "random" subjects—weathered textures, coastal street furniture, light, shadow, and mundane objects that most people walk straight past.
As a self-described "photographer of things," I explore why forcing yourself to photograph ordinary items is like strength training for your photographic eye. When the subject gives you nothing for free, you as the photographer have to do the heavy lifting with composition, framing, and light.
