A carton stops although the conveyor rollers are turning. A transfer table collides with a package arriving from another direction. A powder system moves less material although its blower still runs. These problems cannot be diagnosed from the motor alone. Follow the package support, the transfer sequence, and the gas and solids paths. This lesson compares roller and roll-case equipment, transfer tables, overhead monorails and pneumatic systems. The open drawings reveal mechanisms for study. They do not represent permission to operate exposed equipment or to reach into a stopped process without verified hazardous-energy control.
Moving diagrams, worked examples and separate practice answers for Millwright learners.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Explain roller,skate-wheel and ball-transfer support, gravity and powered drives, accumulation and original package calculations.
• Trace roll-case,transfer-table and monorail support, motion, drive and control components.
• Distinguish pressure,vacuum,dilute,dense,air-slide and vibrating systems,and identify feeders,blow tanks,receivers and filters.
• Interpret original conveying calculations and fault evidence while applying scoped guarding,energy-control and material-hazard principles.
CHAPTERS
0:00 Three transport problems require three different explanations
0:45 Match the transport family to the load and route
2:22 Use roller spacing as a support check
3:07 Do not divide every package load equally among the rollers
4:38 Calculate an ideal energy change before adding real losses
8:30 Check throughput using package pitch
17:25 Use absolute pressure correctly in a vacuum study
21:06 Measure air volume at the location used in the velocity calculation
23:21 Choose evidence that separates feed, gas and receiving restrictions
27:23 Practice: support, package rate and local gas speed
28:16 Answer: distinguish calculated values from design acceptance
29:00 Check the mechanism before naming the fault
29:42 Recap: follow support, motion and the receiving boundary
HOW TO STUDY
Watch the mechanism. Explain the example aloud. Pause for practice. Recall the answers tomorrow.
