The better our healthcare gets here in Spain, the angrier we get about what we accepted as normal in America.
And we never expected to feel that way.
Since moving from the U.S. to Spain, we've had experiences with healthcare that have completely changed our perspective—from the cost of prescriptions to what it feels like to get medical care without the same financial anxiety we lived with back home.
In this episode of Closer to Happy, we're talking candidly about American healthcare versus healthcare in Spain, what surprised us, what frustrates us, and why this issue has become so personal.
We're not saying Spain's healthcare system is perfect. And we're certainly not saying America doesn't have excellent doctors. We've experienced excellent medical professionals in both countries.
But there's a difference between having great doctors and having a healthcare system that feels affordable and accessible.
And that's the conversation we want to have.
*We'd love to hear from you:* Have you experienced healthcare in both the U.S. and another country? Or has the cost of healthcare in America affected decisions you've made about your life?
Share your story in the comments. We read them and appreciate hearing your experiences.
