Why are humans the only animals that wear clothes?
Bears have fur. Birds have feathers. But somewhere in our past, humans lost most of their body hair and started wrapping themselves in the skins of other animals. The first clothes ever made have vanished, so how do scientists know when we started getting dressed?
The answer starts with a tiny parasite: lice. From there, we follow the clues to a seaside cave in Morocco, where 120,000 to 90,000 year old bone tools and skinned animal bones reveal one of humanity's oldest technologies.
In this animated story, you'll discover:
Why the first clothes disappeared, and why Otzi's 5,300 year old outfit is "almost yesterday"
How body lice may have kept a record of when humans started wearing clothes
Why losing our fur was a superpower with a price
The evidence found in Contrebandiers Cave ("Smugglers' Cave")
How clothing turned from survival gear into a language we still speak every morning
