Homemade marimba (mark II)

This is the second marimba that we built. All of the resonators, bars and the frame with all of the hardware was built in our workshop. Not everything is shown in the slideshow. The wood used for the frame is walnut and for the bars it is honduras rosewood. The rosewood had higher moisture content than necessary, therefore it was additionally dryed in a laboratory kiln. The assembly process is very simple and fast as can be seen in the video (it took 8 minutes to fully assemble the marimba). The resonators divide into three parts, while all of the hardware parts simply slip on the rails. The music in the background is all played on the actual marimba. Some of it was recorded spontaneously, while children played for fun. The marimba was custom built for a customer.
