This game was played on spelltable in August 2026. The first thing to note is that I had a T1 Sol Ring. I always feel kinda dirty with an early Sol Ring. But then when I consider cutting it I'll play against some crazy powerful Bracket 4 decks with all the cEDH staples and I go back to justifying the Sol Ring. The thing is, yes, I'm totally justified to run Sol Ring. I have PLENTY of self-imposed restrictions on what I play in this deck that make me feel just fine about calling it a "mid to high Bracket 4," but that doesn't change the fact that I always feel a little guilty about the Sol Ring start. Especially if other people struggle to get going like happened in this game. Player1 was unfortunately mana screwed. He still interacted later on, but later scooped because he was too far behind. I think he originally mulligan'd down to five and said he still didn't have a good hand. In a lower Bracket game I would have offered a friendlier mulligan. I like to, with the permission of the rest of the players, offer to let someone who struggles with the mulligan to go ahead and mull to a keepable hand and then just bottom one card, rather than 2 or 3 or more. Personally I decline to do that when I'm offered, I like to challenge myself to stick to the mulligans strictly and see if I can overcome the disadvantage. But it is nice of people to offer it, and I do that in lower Bracket games. In Bracket 4 I think it's best to keep to the rules, so I don't say anything except to wish them luck in their draws. If other people decide to do a friendly mulligan I don't say anything but in my mind I maybe grumble a little bit and consider it a kind of an asterisk on the game. Player2 had a very strong staxy deck and seemed to know what they were doing and I really enjoyed interacting with them. I had to stop two win attempts! However, they didn't quite understand how the stack worked, and we had almost ten minutes of discussion as I tried to interact with their first win attempt. Then after I stopped the second one I think they were just frustrated which is unfortunate. But they still gave up the "GG" on their way out. Player4 was maybe a newer player, they made a few suboptimal plays (notably, removing Drannith Magistrate before my End Step) and they kept forgetting about the Rule of Law in play (totally understandable, I often have a hard time remembering game-altering effects like that too). But mostly their deck was hit really hard by the Rule of Law because they couldn't cast free spells from Discover triggers (fortunately Discover does let you put the card into your hand instead of casting it if you want, so at least they got some value, but they were still very limited). I thought it was a really fun game, but that's easy to say when your deck is performing well. I was really proud of a lot of my plays, I think I did really really well and I got to do a ton of the janky cool interactive things that I built my deck to do. I played the right things at the right times and at the end of the day that's why I decided to go ahead and edit and upload this one, because it really did showcase a lot of things I like about my deck construction and my play. It's just too bad that everyone else didn't have as good of a time. That's how it goes sometimes, you just have to enjoy it for what enjoyment is available, and then go to the next one with a good attitude.
