SYM Rocks! (full) - An Original Musical By Haydn Dias (2013-14)

NOTICE: Plagiarism or unauthorized usage / performance (in part or whole) although flattering, is unethical, unprofessional and in very bad taste! This is an authentic production of SYM Rocks! SYM Rocks! was my very first musical and was staged in early 2014. This musical will always be a special one for me because I scripted it based on my very own experiences with the boarders, right from the time I was a day scholar myself at St. Dominic Savio High School, to the time I assisted them many years later, with their studies and music (which continues to this day). In case you are wondering, SYM stands for Salesian Youth Movement. I had dedicated this musical to my mother, who was a teacher, because it is in her memory that I began assisting the boarders at St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home. At the end of the stage show, I was presented with a large hand-painted portrait of my mother, which was painted by Michael Singh, a grade 10 boarder at that time. I have, however, not included footage of the presentation ceremony. Sincere apologies for the poor video quality, but the audio is still clear enough to be intelligible. SYM Rocks! incorporates 11 original songs written by me, and you can listen to them in better quality on my SoundCloud page:   / sym-rocks   This particular stage show was directed by Avit Dias, who also designed the costumes, the stage sets and handled the choreography as well. The choir was trained and conducted by Aloysius Machado. Trivia: I wrote the song "You Are Not Just Our Brother" by observing how Bro. Michael Gaikwad (the erstwhile Brother Assistant at St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home) interacted with the boys and vice-verse. The song was originally performed for him on his birthday in the December of 2012, without a musical in mind at that time.
